"My husband is not well. I come to the shore daily to sell fish and earn an income. I was displaced from my own place, Kankesanthurai in 1990. Since then I never went to see my house. It's either occupied by the security forces or destroyed. Now I live in Alvai. I walk a long way in the morning and evening, to earn money to take care of my family. I have five daughters, three of them are married, and other two daughters are living with us. I earn very little money here. We were very rich, before we were displaced, now nobody makes a note of us. We live like beggars here. I am very frustrated, and I want to go back to my own place die there, rather than die here daily" says forty nine years old Mahalakshmi Ariyaasa.
